What Digital Technologies Have You Used?

The primary tools I used in my research and production stage was a combination of Online, Hardware and Software digital technologies. For instance I used Wix.com. Wix.com which is an online website creater which is free and easy to use, I used Wix.com to create a promotional website of my artist. I had never created a website before and by looking at professional artist's websites I was able to research what goes into a promotional website and then use the research to create a high quality website. Another online technology I used in the research and planning stage was Web2.0, the Web2.0 gave me the freedom to investigate infomation and research for my media coursework. I also used YouTube to upload my music video to a global audience and gain feedback from the comments from consumers. I also created an animatic for my music video and I uploaded the video onto Youtube and the animatic was a useful tool for research and development for my music video because it gave me an initial idea to what the music video would look like and also tells me what shots I would use and it also gave me a basic setup to my shoot day. It helped spread out how many shots I had and it helped plan out the shoot day because it gave me an insite to the order of shots I would shoot for example we had less shots in the studio so we decided to shoot the studio shots in the morning because we had less time.

I also used hardware digital technologies such as the Canon 5D. The Canon 5D is a high quality camera which is both portible and durable, we used this camera to shoot our music video, the reason we used this was because was because it is a high quality camera and by using this camera we were also able to shoot in slow motion too which I think worked well in our music video. In my blogs I have a number of screen tests of the actors used in the video and by using a flip camera I was able to quickly gain footage of the actors and upload it onto my blog. This flip cameras were useful in the research stage because I was able to quickly film the actors but also create film footage of whether the actors were suitable for my music video.

I used a number of digital software technologies in my media coursework such as Photoshop, to create my CD digipack I used photoshop to create an immersive and imaginative cover. With a number of layers I was able to create what was an empty street into an underground dubstep gig by using a mixture of photos. I also used Final Cut Pro to edit my Music video, FCP is a simple but effective software which enables users to cut and change footage easily. To gain audience feedback on my music video I decided to create a questionaire on monkey survey and we then gained not only what our consumers thought of the video but who specifically is out target audience in detail such as age, gender, how they download music and what music they like. We also asked questions which gaves clear opinions about our music video such as: Did you understand the narrative? or 'Would you buy or download more of this artist's music?'

Results from our Questionaire

So far we have got feedback from ten people, 5/10 were female which was not our target audience, our target audience are males between 16-25 our secondary audience would be femlaes which meant that the feedback given from females was not in vain. From our target audience most of the males were in our target age from 16-25 with only one over 25, there was a large of range of how our target audience buy music products, some buy all their music digitally then we have some people who buy their products all physically in a store.
